Released in 2004 NEOCLASSICAL marked KAREEM’s next level of advanced Hip Hop Break Construction presenting a combination of deep, dark and gloomy Hip Hop Instrumentals.
What sets this release apart from KAREEM’s debut EP BATTLEFIELD (Ramadan 01) and from his release on K2o is a shift from strictly sample dominated loop composition to a balanced combination of sample processing and multiple synthesis usage embedded in detailed arrangements.
On “Curfew” Kareem collaborated with Reggae and Dub vocalist Paul St. Hilaire, known for his releases on Burial Mix, Main Street Records and his own label False Tuned. Hilaire’s drops direct raggamuffins over a raw and minimal yet harmonic loop construction demonstrating a nu facet of his vocal skills.
